Georgia’s Room

by admin on March 6, 2013

I’m fixing up our house a bit. We recently have been debating–should we move? Should we stay? I think we are 90% decided to stay. That said…our amazing house is now 7 years old. When we moved in, Jack was 3 and Georgia had just had her first birthday. The walls need fixing(and painting)…projects that were meant to get done are still half finished. So, we have been planning some sprucing up. The kids rooms need ‘growing up’ and our room–well, it was one of those things that got put on the back burner. It’s always been half finished. We recently got new furniture, but now we want to add the finishing touches. Sooo….I thought we’d share our progress on our blog.

Georgia’s room is the easiest. She wants input(which makes it difficult as I had to sway her to my way of thinking for some things–like the paint colour#1), but she has pretty good taste and is excited to have a more grown up look. Her current room is all pink and white wicker baskets with gingham and floral quilts. We have decided to bring in some metallics and some purple. We’ll keep her Hemnes twin bed from Ikea(#4), but we added the new duvet cover(#2). She is insistent on a swing in her reading corner. She picked out a bubble one that cost $1500(ya right), but I swayed her to the white Swingasan from Pier One(#3) with the ruffled purple pillow, a lambskin and a white cushion. I am undecided on her dresser. We are still using the one we got to go with our maple crib…I’m trying to decide if we can paint it and change the knobs to make it work in the room. Plus, I need to decide on artwork–either she will make some or we’ll print some large canvases or maybe both. I am trying to convince her to change her chandelier into a big, round string light. So far, she is not on board. I’m working on her though…

Jack’s room is tougher…I have a feeling it will be the last one to be updated. I have plans for the kitchen, master bedroom and the playroom. Plus, some changes to the hallways…I decided our house was taking itself a bit too seriously. We are not very serious people…so that didn’t make sense. I’m excited to share my finds with you all….
