While I worked, Bob took the kids for a hike in Kananaskis. I thought these images captured with his iPhone were awesome. We should all learn to enjoy hiking so much

Tonight, I took Georgia out and we documented her hair. She has decided that she would like to cut her hair(which she almost sits on) and donate it to Locks Of Love. I’m crying tonight looking at the images and listening to her talk about it. She is so excited. I am, too…to be honest, combing out her hair is a huge job and I am looking forward to her new do…BUT…I’ll miss it. She will miss it as well. It has taken her a couple of months to be completely comfortable with the idea of it. Now that she has made the decision, you can tell she is so proud of herself. Me, too…one frame from my very personal project.

My little girl is 7 years old. She wanted a glow in the dark party. Thanks to Pinterest, we made it happen…glow in the dark slime was made(this was an enormous hit), glow in the dark bowling…and the dollarstore in Okotoks was cleaned out of glow in the dark accessories. Georgia said it was her best birthday party ever.
We love that she has such a creative mind(this party was all her idea)…she wouldn’t settle for a party at a place other than her very own home. We try to convince her every year(to avoid the mess and the clean up), but now we’re pretty used to it. Old school birthday parties in Pughville…kids, hot dogs, cake…and presents…Happy Birthday G!!! I think 7 is going to rock…

I take pictures of my kids sleeping from time to time. I attempted it with film recently. Late at night, with the lights on in her room to help…pushing the film…and holding as still as I could. I knew it wouldn’t be perfect and I was okay with that. When I saw it, I loved it more because of it…G and Ted.

Georgia at a park in Akranes, Iceland.
The work I create documenting my children is a love letter to them that needs no words. I hope that when they are adults, they will look back on the hundreds of thousands of images I have created for them and be reminded of how much I love them.

All shot on film with an old 35mm camera. Manual focus(I only say that cause dang it’s tough to nail focus with a fast moving kiddo)…

The corn maze in Lacombe
Coming home from spending Thanksgiving weekend with our families in Edmonton…Yes, Georgia has a ridiculous hat. She won it in the grand prize draw at Jack’s cub scouts popcorn release party. People stop and stare. They love it–they say. She refuses to take it off. At least it suited the corn maze…such good value there. We spent a good couple of hours engaged in some fall fun
